Rockefeller's War on Natural Medicine

Time and again I repeat on the Prep School Daily blog the importance of learning from history.  We’ve covered a Civil War doctor’s use of herbs to treat his patients, highlighted some disease epidemics throughout recent history, and covered a few brief notes on Venezuela’s decline from an industrialized country into a third-world hellhole due to socialism and communism, as a little preview of what we may soon experience here. Now let's consider a quick summary of the history of herbal and allopathic medicine in the US.

John D. Rockefeller, robber baron and the country’s first billionaire, having made his fortune in the oil industry then set his sights on monopolizing medical care. Americans, however, were quite fond of their natural medicines and practitioners.  And apparently not confident that his new patent drugs would be able to compete with the home-grown remedies, Rockefeller had to quash the competition.  He needed a cadre of well-trained doctors to deal drugs, or to quote Rockefeller himself, promote “a pill for every ill.”  First, he shuttered the herbal medicine schools, about 50% of the medical schools in the US, by means of his hitman, Abraham Flexner, who reported to Congress in 1910 that the schools teaching natural medicine presented nothing but unscientific quackery.  Congress fully supported Rockefeller’s desire to close the herbal and holistic medicine schools.  Amazing what money can do.

Of course, noteworthy is the fact that the John D. Rockefeller of 100 years ago is no different than the political and business leaders today seeking to run our lives.  Even though he could have made any of the men he tasked with developing the new medical schools in this country his personal physician, this hypocrite continued to see his own natural medicine practitioner.

As noted in The Great Influenza by John M. Barry, “Rockefeller himself used a homeopathic physician” (p. 72), and “the largest single donor [to modern medical schools] remained the Rockefeller Foundation.  John D. Rockefeller himself continued to see a homeopathic physician” (p. 86).

Moving forward, did you know it’s actually a crime in this country to treat cancer with anything but an approved cancer drug?  Would you believe that Rockefeller founded the American Cancer Society in 1913?

Perhaps it’s not so hard to believe when you recall how some physicians were demonized and had their licenses yanked for refusing to “trust the science.”  For suggesting the use of hydroxychloroquine or, gasp, that “horse-paste” ivermectin.  For actually caring about their patients.

Keep in mind the following from John Abramson, M.D., Harvard Medical School clinical faculty:

“[G]ive up the illusion that the primary purpose of modern medical research is to improve Americans’ health most effectively and efficiently. In our opinion, the primary purpose of commercially funded clinical research is to maximize financial return on investment, not health.”

As mentioned repeatedly on the blog, in this country very little clinical research is conducted on herbs because Big Pharma can’t patent them. No patent-no profit.  Much of the research in herbal medicine comes from abroad, generally third-world countries whose people can’t afford Western, industrialized medicine. What is detailed on the pages of this blog are some solutions people around the world have used for hundreds or even thousands of years to treat their own ailments.  There is no guarantee that they will be of efficacy as people, plants, protocols, and potency vary.  You must conduct further research with multiple reputable sources and, of course, consult with your personal physician in any decisions you make.
